How can you know that I actually care about you. How can you be sure that whatever wisdom I may impart is or is not coming from my own self-centered interests? Or anyone else’s podcast, lecture or book is from a place of authenticate caring? Maybe it is just to make some money for someone and the wisdom is incidental?
I share a lot of my shortcomings in this blog. By shortcomings I mean my failures, mistakes and regrets. I do this to clear my own head so I don’t do it again. And to provide some awareness to you that these behaviors are all too Human. We all fall a little short in relationships, health, intentions and ambitions. It is comforting to know we are not alone.
My favorite bit of wisdom comes from Bob P:
“When we share our problems they get cut in half. When we share our joys they get doubled”. The important part is to share.
Combat vets only like to talk to other combat vets. Drunks will only get honest with other drunks. Addicts only feel safe talking to other addicts. One person who has dealt with and overcome some major difficulty and is willing to share the struggle becomes a trustworthy wise council for someone who is struggling.
My worst failures become my access to being a caring person.
How’s that for some wisdom?
