Love, Grief and Bullfighting

A great person that I love deeply passed away recently. I know that “Love” is the glue that keeps all of life in existence. And often the passions of anger and hurt separate us from love and from each other. Those passions in no way diminished the tremendous love I shared and still  share spiritually with this person.  I am overcome with the feelings of grief at unusual times mostly when I am alone.

This will be my last blog. Thank you all so much for reading along with me.

I am reminded of an interpretation of the Spanish sport of Bullfighting.

It has been said that bullfighting is a metaphorical representation of the continual struggle between our good sense and our passions. Our passions may have us act out or rage in anger like a ferocious bull. Our good sense could be the Matador in stately, disciplined control, un-phased by the ferocity. Occasionally the Bull wins as when lust, fear, gluttony or greed take over our behavior. It is always ugly when the Bull wins. Of course the skilled Matador can stop the Bull with a well placed sword.

As a sport it may seem cruel for what is done to the Bull. Most all of us do, in fact, eat meat. Like it or not, everything alive on this planet must eat something else that has been alive in order to survive.

But the message of respectfully keeping our passions in control is still an excellent lesson to avoid hurtful damage and regrets.

One of my most remembered mentors left me with this:

“Have you been loving and kind to everyone you met today?”

I have much gratitude for the love of my life who has edited these missives so well.

And gratitude for Artistic Dean Triolo who has provided the graphics.

And most of all for the many, many people that have shared their energy, words and wisdom over my lifetime. This includes YOU.
