I am a licensed Chiropractor, Hellerwork Practitioner and Health Care Professional for over 40 years. Every accident, injury, physical malfunction or complaint I have seen involves our complete Body, Mind and Spirit to be recognized.
One of the questions I ask with my intake exam includes the following:
“When was the last time you had your heart broken? Not necessarily of a romantic nature but any kind of loss, failure and/or disappointment?”
Then I stay quiet for a time and listen with my feelings. Listening with my feelings does not always need words. I can feel from my own experience what they are feeling.
When we are emotionally upset we are distracted. We can misjudge lifting, driving, even eating something that does not support our health.
My job, in addition to examining the physical body for bruises, breaks, dislocations, subluxations or malfunctions includes discovering how these conditions may have happened. The best I can do is listen. So my sessions take some time.
My approach includes the notion that all people are whole, perfect, complete and they have some barriers to expressing that perfection. The barriers to the expression of health are often the unacknowledged broken hearts.
Usually the broken heart memories are not fully remembered until the rapport and trust of touch happens. The gift of Chiropractic adjustments and massage is trust.
So I listen a lot.
