This year Patti and I hosted two 18 year old Marines from the 29 Palms Marine Base here in the desert. Private Austin and Pfc Cameron joined us for 6 hours of heartfelt conversation, two big meals(they could eat), a tour of the Indian Wells Golf Course, Bocce Ball, our hot tub and pool, Chiropractic adjustments and a continuous acknowledgement from us to them for their commitment and service. Austin’s parents called from Ohio and Cameron’s folks called from Virginia. I know and can remember first hand what it is like to be away from home on a major holiday. We were, on Thanksgiving, and are now, family for both them. Oh God we have a lot to be grateful for. I actually cried after we dropped them off to go back to their base.
