Doing My Best

I do my best to see what works well about all my patients. I do this even though they may be seeing me because of a complaint or dysfunction. I do what I can to relieve whatever discomfort they may be experiencing and at the same time recognizing and acknowledging what is functional, effective and works about them.
We are all in this same boat. We have pluses and minuses. What we pay attention to will grow. This is true for ourselves and for others.
What I have learned after working with over 3,000 patients in the last 40 years is this: What we pay attention to grows. Whether it be our health, or the attitude of our neighbor, our children or our gardens. Our attention brings growth.
So every single morning, whether I feel like it or not, I pay 45 minutes of attention to the health of my body. I lift weights, jog, yoga, stretch, deep breathe, do headstands and recite memorized inspirational and motivational prose.
Every day, whether I have slept enough or not, whether I feel like it or not.
At age 78 ¾ I am healthier and stronger than I was at 50.
That is what those 3,000 people have taught me over the last 40 years.
What I pay attention to grows……………..
Also, I need to repeat things over and over again for them to sink in.
